As a Webflow designer and developer, attending Europe’s largest Webflow-focused conference, FlowConf 2024, was an incredible experience. Held in Niš, Serbia, on November 8 and 9, this gathering was a perfect fusion of innovation, community, and practical insights from some of the brightest minds in the Webflow ecosystem. From talks by industry leaders to networking opportunities with fellow creatives, FlowConf left me inspired and ready to push the boundaries of no-code design even further.

Keynote Highlights and Takeaways

To Code or Not to Code?

Alex Iglesias from Finsweet set the stage by tackling a dilemma every developer faces: “To code or use no-code tools?” He likened the decision to a debate as timeless as Shakespeare’s soliloquy on life and death. Alex reminded us that it’s not always a matter of choosing one path; the real magic happens when we thoughtfully blend both worlds to suit the project’s unique needs. His advice? Focus on the details — sometimes a little bit of code can elevate a no-code project, or vice versa.

Why Your Website Should Be the Hub of Your Content Strategy

Florian Bodelot from Digidop captivated marketers in the crowd with his session on centralizing content. He shared, “81% of marketers report that content marketing is a core business strategy,” emphasizing how focusing efforts on a website creates a lasting competitive advantage. Rather than diluting messages across multiple platforms, Florian explained that a website should serve as a brand’s central hub, driving sustainable growth.

AMA with Emily Lonetto

Webflow’s own Emily Lonetto, Director of Community & Agency Marketing, joined virtually for a live Q&A session, giving attendees the chance to ask anything Webflow-related. Emily provided valuable insights into the Webflow community, practical tips for freelancers, and the future of Webflow's growth. Her accessibility and openness made this an especially engaging session for attendees eager to connect with Webflow directly.

Leveraging Webflow for Enterprise Solutions

Nenad Ivanovic from Nursa shared his experience with Webflow as a powerful platform for enterprise-level websites. Nursa.com’s story is an impressive example of how Webflow integrates with other technologies to support growth, SEO, and business objectives on a large scale. Nenad’s talk illustrated Webflow’s flexibility and potential as a backbone for companies aiming to optimize their digital presence.

Doubling Down on No-Code: Building Europe’s Largest Webflow Website

Dawid Skubisz from Tonik stole the show with his session on scaling a no-code agency. In just a year, he doubled Tonik’s team, built Europe’s largest Webflow website, and achieved recognition as Poland’s first Webflow Enterprise Agency. His session was a lively blend of practical insights and amusing stories from his no-code journey — tequila nights in San Francisco and mountain treks in Marbella included. Dawid’s passion for Webflow and his adventurous spirit made this session a standout.

Leadership and Growth Lessons from the Balkans

Goran Bajazetov from Mindcast shared his journey of building and selling a leading design agency in the Balkans. His talk highlighted leadership strategies and key lessons for growth that resonated with everyone in the room. Goran’s insights were both inspirational and practical, giving attendees a roadmap to success in the no-code space.

The Human Side of Design

Nuša Willenpart and Marin Mešter from Flowout dove into the nuances of building client relationships in their talk, “Design is more than just pushing pixels.” They discussed why empathy, adaptability, and a human approach to design are as vital as technical skills. Their advice on being “easy to work with” resonated deeply, serving as a reminder to stay grounded and focused on people, not just projects.

Turning a Website into the Best Salesperson

Uroš Mikić, CEO @ Flow Ninja, revealed how his team generated over $2 million in annual pipeline by refining their website strategy. By focusing on consistent improvements in traffic and conversions, Uros turned their website into a powerful lead generator. His session emphasized how small, strategic website changes can lead to substantial growth without relying on AI or economic trends.

Serbia’s Innovation Ecosystem

Miloš Grozdanović from Science Technology Park Niš provided an introduction to Serbia’s innovation ecosystem. His talk covered the government, academic, and private sector partnerships that support startups and drive regional growth. It was fascinating to see how Serbia is positioning itself within the global tech landscape, with initiatives designed to bolster regional innovation.
